Japanese Style Flower Vases
2 ½ Day Hands on Workshop
August 16 and 17 10am -3pm
PLUS August 24 10am – 1pm
No Experience Necessary
This 2 ½ Day Clay Workshop is for those who not only want to make vases but to experience the process from the perspective of Chado ~ the Way of Tea. Participants will learn the aesthetic elements unique to this style of container.
The first two day will be learning and investigating hand-building techniques. There will be a variety of clays, slips, texture ideas to play with. Bring a sack lunch for these 2 days of making.
Then over the next week, pieces will be dried and fired ready for pick up on August 24 with a hand-on. rendering of Chabana- Flowers Used in Tea Ceremony. (please bring flowers if you wish and a pot luck lunch)
Richard Brandt will be leading the creative portion of this workshop and Jan Waldmann will be focusing on the cultural aspect of the process.
This Workshop will be held outdoors at Heart Fire Sanctuary – weather permitting.
