This workshop is not limited to any specific creation. What you make is of your choosing. This workshop is focused on observing and using the forces and forms of nature to help influence the way we interact with and shape clay into your specific creations.

From the vast array of textures: layering, cracking, and erupting of geology, to the patterns and designs on wings and fur, and the waves on water, the bend of a bone, and billows of clouds…

All these provide us with a connection to the ancient ways that Earth creates. In experiencing and using her wisdom we might also gain this wisdom through our hands and body. We can move the way nature moves to discover our ever present deep connection with nature. We don’t make a creation. We let a creation make through us.

Firing your work in Yukti, the wood firing kiln, is the perfect extension to this process. It is the most direct connection to the forces of fire, wood, air, water, and human that one can experience in the world of clay. We’ll be making our work stronger to endure the extreme environments inside the kiln. While building, we’ll also consider the placement in the kiln, the flow of flame, ash, and shadow.

If you choose to have your piece(s) fired in Yukti kiln there will be an extra charge based on the size of your work. Again, no one will be turned away for lack of funds. There may also be opportunities to be part of the  firing crew…. Next Firing in March, …More details are available if requested.

Experience with clay is a plus but enthusiasm and patience is more important.

Bring some ideas of what you’d like to make.

All Clay and tools are provided. Also, we’ll be making our own from the land.

All Heart Fire Sanctuary workshops are offered freely, though a minimum fee of $1.00 is required to complete registration below. Please email heartfiresanctuary@gmail.com with any questions.
